How to take advantage of the home tax credit - todaysthv.com | KTHV | Little Rock, AR

Last year, the U.S. government passed legislation that was designed to help stimulate the housing market. So if you're in the market for a new home, you have a just over a month to take advantage.

It's called the home buyer tax credit and it has been extended from the original November 30, 2009 deadline to April 30, 2010.

Laura talks about the extension and some of the changes that were made since November 2009. Home owners can now benefit from additional incentives. One major change: you do not have to be a first-time home buyer to benefit.

If you are thinking of buying a home, it is important to note that a legally binding contract MUST be in place prior to April 30th. That is, if you want to benefit from the home tax credit.
